Sheryl and her husband lost their son in August of 2016 to suicide. While processing through their grief, they started a movement called Our City Cares. You may have noticed the signs of hope posted around our community. Don’t Give Up. You Are Not Alone. Your Life Matters. Your Mistakes Don’t Define You. There is Hope. Comparison is the thief of Joy. There are also handouts with crisis hotline information and support locations at the schools for students in need. Please listen to Sheryl’s story and think how YOU can be an ambassador of hope in our community for someone struggling. We are all connected. Thank you.
Tune in to this interview with Just a Girl in Camas’s sister Heather Kesmodel, as SHE asks Just a Girl in Camas why you should consider donating to her nonprofit for #GivingTuesday. This Tuesday if you donate via Facebook on the Just a Girl in Camas Facebook page, your donation can be matched! All donations go to support the mission of Just a Girl in Camas. Please consider making a donation. Thank you! #JustaGirlinCamas
Meet Max. He is the author of the book Aspergers and other Superpowers. We sat down to talk about his book. His struggles and triumphs. I didn’t cut out anything from this interview. I want everyone to hear everything Max shares. He is an amazing young man. Inspirational. Enjoy and share. Thank you!
Nuestra Mesa, it means ‘our table’ in Spanish. I love this great Mexican restaurant right in downtown Camas where you can go for happy hour, lunch, dinner and now brunch. Tune into my chat with Tania Moravitz, one of the owners, as we chat about the start of Nuestra Mesa and what they have to offer. Yummy food and drinks! Check it out!
What a wonderful and inspiring interview I had with the Virtuosity senior tappers. This beautiful group of women is led by the lovely and talented Candace Miller. They are so fun and I loved how supportive they are to one another while building strong friendships. I hope to have a team of women like this as I continue in life. These ladies will be dancing at the Virtuosity dance recital at Washburn Auditorium June 9th at 6:30 and June 10th at 11:30. Come see them and all the other wonderful dancers from Virtuosity Performing Arts Studio. Enjoy life with the zest like these fabulous ladies!
I had the wonderful honor of getting to chat with the advisors and senior officers of the DECA club at Camas High School. This group of young people are AMAZING. From the moment they walked into the room and came up to shake my hand and make eye contact with me I was impressed. Listen in to hear about their experiences with DECA and what makes this such an amazing program!
Last spring I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Grass Valley Elementary and talk to the students about the teachers in their community and what THEY can do in their community to make it better, brighter and stronger. This was such a fun day! I got to interview two teachers, the principal and have a dance party at the end. Check out the fun at Grass Valley Elementary! Check out this teacher in the photo! Special shout out to one amazing teacher at Grass Valley Elementary, Juli Hanson. You rock! Your love for the kids and top notch teaching amazes me.
Last week I had the honor of meeting and chatting with the Corey family at Barre3. This Friday, February 24th, Barre3 will be hosting an evening of giving where you can attend two classes (4:15pm and 5:30pm) with ALL proceeds ($20 suggested donation) going to support the Corey’s as they endure the road ahead. I was drawn to the Corey family not only because of their sweet daughter Sadie but I’ve also been so inspired at how supportive and wonderful local businesses and individuals have been for this family. Tune in and meet the sweet Sadie, mom Katie, dad Adam and Stacey from Barre3. #sadiestrong
Last week I checked in with Camas High School head football coach Jon Eagle and seniors Caleb Eldred and Jack Colletto. So fun following the Camas football team this year as they have a 8-0 record so far. Learn more from the coach and players about this year’s team and how they look at the season one game at a time. Make sure to stay in the loop!
