What a wonderful and inspiring interview I had with the Virtuosity senior tappers. This beautiful group of women is led by the lovely and talented Candace Miller. They are so fun and I loved how supportive they are to one another while building strong friendships. I hope to have a team of women like this as I continue in life. These ladies will be dancing at the Virtuosity dance recital at Washburn Auditorium June 9th at 6:30 and June 10th at 11:30. Come see them and all the other wonderful dancers from Virtuosity Performing Arts Studio. Enjoy life with the zest like these fabulous ladies!
Be a part of your community and come to downtown Camas on April, 23rd at 12:30 for some lunch at Journey church and to help clean up and make our downtown Camas beautiful. What a way to celebrate the day after Earth Day. Help beautify our city and join in with others in our community. Listen in as I chat with Caroline Mercury, President of the Downtown Camas Association about this fun event! What a great Sunday activity!
Hey there! If you haven’t attended the CEF (Camas Education Foundation) Auction yet, this should be your year. I chatted with Alison Benjamin, the auction chair, about the fun night and all of the great items that are up for bid. I also had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Cathy Sork, the principal at Dorothy Fox Elementary about how the grants through CEF have benefited their school. Listen in to this fun interview with these great ladies. Mark March 18th on your calendar. It’s going to be fun!
Last week I had the honor of meeting and chatting with the Corey family at Barre3. This Friday, February 24th, Barre3 will be hosting an evening of giving where you can attend two classes (4:15pm and 5:30pm) with ALL proceeds ($20 suggested donation) going to support the Corey’s as they endure the road ahead. I was drawn to the Corey family not only because of their sweet daughter Sadie but I’ve also been so inspired at how supportive and wonderful local businesses and individuals have been for this family. Tune in and meet the sweet Sadie, mom Katie, dad Adam and Stacey from Barre3. #sadiestrong
Last week I checked in with Camas High School head football coach Jon Eagle and seniors Caleb Eldred and Jack Colletto. So fun following the Camas football team this year as they have a 8-0 record so far. Learn more from the coach and players about this year’s team and how they look at the season one game at a time. Make sure to stay in the loop! If you haven’t heard this is the first year for the Camas based middle school, The Gryphons. It opened this fall to 120 students who are learning lessons and meeting state standards in a project based learning environment. I got to check out the campus and sit down with the principal Aaron Smith to talk about how this school is doing and what is on the horizon. What an amazing and wonderful option for our youth here in Camas. Listen in and see what you think!
I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and chat with three special individuals at Camas High School and talk about the upcoming production Chemogirl and other Plays! that will be showcased on Friday, October 7th at Camas High School Auditorium. House opens at 6:30 and the curtain goes up at 7:00. All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night walk to help support research for blood cancers. What a great fundraiser for our community to rally around. Raising funds for cancer research and supporting Camas High School Theater. Please consider supporting.
Hey everyone! This Wednesday, June 1st and every Wednesday until September 28th you can come check out The Camas Farmer’s Market. Yummy produce, sweets and treats, music and many other fun finds. I’m wrapping up my interviews for the Mental Health Awareness month of May. I had the wonderful opportunity of touring the Children’s Center and learning about what a great resource that offers specialized outpatient mental health counseling and psychiatric services for children and adolescents. They also offer services for the uninsured and underinsured. Hear about a great fundraiser luncheon with author Patrick Kennedy as the special keynote speaker on June 17th at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA. I hope one of my interviews this month has helped educate, break the stigma and start the dialogue about mental health. You are not alone. There are resources and help for you. Let’s be a community that cares and supports all.
I can’t wait for you to meet this Camas resident, Heather Radu who is the founder and owner of Forever Changed International. Heather has a orphanage in Guatemala called Dorie’s Promise. On May 24th from 6-8 there will be a Care Concert held at Camas Meadows to help support the orphans at Dorie’s Promise. Families are encouraged to attend. There will be great music, auction items and a time to come together as a community to support this great organization. You can get tickets at the door. Let’s join in to support and bring love to communities around the world. Enjoy the pictures at the end of our interview from my service trip to Guatemala in January. See you May 24th!
